Malouf Holds Annual Art Auction to Benefit Survivors of Domestic Abuse

Renowned Utah artist Michael Malm finished a live painting in front of guests that was auctioned off at the end of the night.

Malouf announced that the Malouf Foundation raised $48,962 for Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse (CAPSA) during its third annual Art for CAPSA benefit dinner and art auction held Oct. 12 at the company’s headquarters. The funds raised will support the organization’s free clinical therapy program to help families and individuals affected by abuse.

More than 150 guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and chef’s tasting while bidding on 62 pieces of art donated by renowned local artists.

“We are honored to host this event for CAPSA,” said Sam Malouf, CEO and president of Malouf. “And we appreciate everyone who came out this year to support the hundreds of people in our community using these services to recover from the effects of abuse.”

Over 50 Malouf employees donated their time and talents to ensure the success of the event. An interior designer curated the beautiful space, set builders constructed walls and displays, and the entire kitchen team worked for weeks to prepare 44 gourmet dishes. Employees volunteered to run the reception area, serve the meal, buss the tables, wrap the art, and oversee the auction app and other technology needs. And one very dedicated employee organized and managed the event from start to finish.

As a main highlight of the evening, renowned Utah artist Michael Malm finished a live painting in front of guests that was auctioned off at the end of the night. Other notable works included sculptures by Scott Rogers; photography by Thomas C. Bunn, Howard Carroll, Chris Dunker, Samantha Emmett and Charles H. Siefert; and paintings by Josh Clare, Jordan Daines, Linda S. Morse, Steve Wagner and Larry Winborg.

“We are so grateful to Malouf and all its employees who keep CAPSA at the heart of the Malouf Foundation,” said Jill Anderson, executive director of CAPSA. “The Art for CAPSA event is now our largest fundraiser of the year, and the funds raised from this event have allowed us to grow from one therapist to seven therapists over the last three years.”
