Theodore Alexander Debuts Avenue Montaigne Collection, Althorp Additions

Furniture World News Desk on 10/14/2018

Theodore Alexander unveiled its Paris-inspired Avenue Montaigne Collection at High Point Furniture Market, along with additions to the Althorp Living History Collection. Spurred by growing customer trends, Theodore Alexander’s fall introductions include 350 pieces across its Casual, Modern and Traditional style categories.

“Theodore Alexander customers seek to create their own legacies through high-quality furniture that spans every design aesthetic,” said Neill Robinson, president, Theodore Alexander. “Our new collection and additions offer a breadth of signature pieces across the style spectrum, each upholding our hallmark elegance and attention to hand-crafted details.”

The Avenue Montaigne Collection entails an artful aesthetic of haute fashion imbued with a fresh relevance. Inspired by the exclusive Paris promenade that contains the world’s most famous brands and fashion houses, Avenue Montaigne offers an aesthetic that is classic with palpable Art Deco influences throughout, reflecting a play of classical symmetry and geometry flow. For example, the trapezoid is a recurrent shape, beautifully demonstrated on console tables with angular metal bases, such as in the Theirry occasional tables. Decorative metal stretchers appear on a series of striking occasional tables – a thoughtful early 20th Century nod to the rise of industrialism.

In addition, Charles, 9th Earl Spencer will unveil the newest masterpieces in the Althorp Living History Collection. Designed in partnership with Theodore Alexander, this collection entails pieces inspired by the Althorp Estate, the Spencer family’s ancestral home of 19 generations of British nobility. On October 12 from 4-5 p.m. in the Theodore Alexander showroom, the Althorp Living History Collection event will showcase a trove of masterpieces such as the Peacock Cabinet, Medallion Sideboard and Green Park Sofa that mirror the estate’s original antiques. In a featured presentation, Lord Spencer will reveal the history behind the collection’s signature items and offer an exclusive photo opportunity with guests.

“The Althorp Living History Collection captures the extraordinary ancestry of 500 years of Spencer family tradition,” said Charles, 9th Earl Spencer. “Each piece brings to life generations of memories and embodies centuries of Britain’s most treasured craftsmanship.”

Theodore Alexander also revealed a plethora of pieces, upholstery frames and fabrics across all three of its Casual, Modern and Traditional signature style categories. These best- selling lines include the Echoes, Composition, Theodore Alexander Modern, Anthony Cox, Stephen Church and Theodore Alexander Classics collections. Theodore Alexander’s fall collections include the Laurent Bombe Commode and the Rainier Bombe Commode, limited editions with only 50 pieces available. The Rainier Bombe Commode, for example, entails a rich mahogany, Morado veneer with a serpentine Breccia marble top, an inlay with fine sycamore and mother of pearl inlaid leaves, all centered by a musical instrument motif.
Located at 229 Russell Avenue in High Point, the Theodore Alexander showroom will be open October 12-17, 2018, starting 7:30 a.m. daily during High Point Furniture Market. For more information on current or debuting collections, visit theodorealexander.com or call 336-885-5005.
