At the Fall 2018 High Point Market, Sam Moore reports that it will unveil four trend-inspired fabric themes in the company’s showroom located at C-1058 in the IHFC building. Combining a mix of key findings from popular macro trends, culture, visionary stories and new textiles, the four themes include Global Chic, Modern Farmhouse, Organic Modern and Modern Casual-Glam. They were curated from insights gathered at leading trend forecasting agency, Fashion Snoops’ Trend Immersion Event and the Showtime Textile Market earlier this summer.

“Sam Moore has always been on the leading-edge of style,” said Frank Richardson, president of Sam Moore. “We cannot lose sight of the fact that we are in a fashion business and we must continuously immerse ourselves in the trends that will drive the future to further solidify our position as a leader in custom fashion upholstery.

“As a result of our ongoing trend spotting initiatives, we are confident that our presentation this Market will reflect the style direction of tomorrow’s consumer,” he continued.

Fall 2018 arrives in an abundance of textures and materials drawn from world travel and cultural references, mixed with familiar patterns distressed beyond recognition, a nod to all things nature and just a touch of glam. Super-saturated colors from slate blue to all shades of green intermingle with gold hues and a warm palette of russet reds to provide vibrant and rich pops of color against a warm backdrop of fresh neutrals in chocolate, grey, straw and caramel.

“Our trend initiatives reaffirmed an ongoing theme that we have presented in the Sam Moore showroom for several Markets now, and that is, authenticity,” said Sandi Teague, vice president of sales and merchandising for Sam Moore. “While each of our four trends represent a distinctive lifestyle, they all stem from a very authentic point of view.

“Fabrics this season range from velvets to suedes and a variety of prints, stripes and high performance plains,” she continued. “Texture is extremely important, as you’ll see a strong trend of ‘imperfection,’ including flawed florals, distressed plains and deconstructed plaids – all of which provide aged and worn looks that clearly send a message of authenticity.

“Heavy textures, cut velvets and patterns with a bit of luster round out the assortment,” she added.
Derived from world travel, traditional craftsmanship, nature and the opulent Art Deco movement, highlights of the fabric and color themes for Fall 2018 include:

Global Chic: Consumed by wanderlust, this theme draws inspiration from culture and world travel. Nomadic themes include traditional rug and tribal prints intermingled with distressed plains and hand-woven looks in fresh colorations. A few chunky textures and shearlings also make an appearance.
Modern Farmhouse: Filled with stripes and distressed patterns and textures, Modern Farmhouse presents a nostalgic nod to the craftsmanship of days past. Accented with industrial elements, this look is achieved through a mix of materials and colors including flawed prints and rugged linens in a palette of warm neutrals, slate blues and straw tones.

Organic Modern: Showcasing touches of nature, Organic Modern features a fresh collection of flora and fauna – from foliage-inspired prints to watercolor florals and Asian-inspired leaves and branches – as well as natural agate-inspired fabrics and a variety of animal references including butterfly wings, a variety of birds, and even an occasional koi fish. Fresh greens and blues – including a combination of blue-green hues – are grounded with moss green, grey, butter and mushroom.

Modern Casual-Glam: Featuring warm neutrals, chocolate, gold and copper metallics and an abundance of lush velvets, this trend brings the sensual and opulent Art Deco style to 2018. Updated and fluid patterns in a fresh, yet cool, color palette mix with a bit of luster and shimmer that add a sophisticated touch of glam.

More about Sam Moore: Sam Moore Furniture is a leader in crafting quality, custom upholstery. In 1940, a young Sam Moore and four of his friends bought the Delaware Chair Company in Delaware, Ohio. A tough economy and a looming war forced Sam to relocate. The company moved south to Christiansburg, Virginia in 1943 and to its current home in Bedford, Virginia in 1960. Through the years, the company expanded to a 300,000 square foot facility that is a balanced blend of state-of-the-art technology and hand craftsmanship. In 2007, Sam Moore was acquired by Martinsville, Virginia-based Hooker Furniture, one of the world's largest and most respected furniture companies, founded over 90 years ago in 1924. Just like Sam Moore, Hooker is known for quality furnishings of exceptional value.
