The International Society of Furniture Designers recently announced the finalists for the industry’s highest honor—the 2018 Pinnacle Awards. Winners will be announced at the Twenty-Third Annual Pinnacle Awards Gala, set for October 15 at High Point University’s Congdon School of Health Sciences.
For the first time in the history of the Pinnacles, the awards will be bestowed by the International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD), the international organization devoted to advancing, improving and supporting the practice of furniture design.
“Now in our 23rd year, the annual Pinnacle Awards Competition has drawn interest from designers across the country in 18 categories—reflecting the ever-expanding awareness of the impact of product design on the marketplace,” says John Conrad, executive director. “We saw more student entries than ever before this year, and we are also pleased to see intense competition in our newest category, Maker/Designer, created to recognize the builders/makers who create one-of-a-kind pieces for sale in galleries and stores, as well as client-specific products.”
An elite mix of industry leaders encompassing manufacturing, retailing, education, journalists, designers and home fashions forecasters are judging the competition this year, including Greg Kincaid, Marketing Manager, Sherwin Williams; Ellen Fisher, NYSID, VP Academic Affairs; Nancy Fire, Design Works International, Co-Founder; Adam Kessler, AWFS; Jane Nichols, HPU School of Design; Ray Allegrezza, Executive Director, IHFRA; Lael Thompson, COO, Broyhill Home Collections; June Sedlak Mooney, Studio J; Peggy Burns, Queen Bee, Circle Furniture; Sarah Paxton, President, LaDiff; and Connie Post,CEO, Affordable Design Solutions. They have culled the entries to the following:
