Hooker Furniture to Launch 65-Piece Woodlands Collection during Fall High Point Market

Furniture World News Desk on 8/22/2018

Hooker Furniture recently announced that it is returning to its roots as a purveyor of classic traditional styling with the launch of Woodlands, a 65-piece whole home collection, at the October High Point Market. Featuring designs inspired by America’s great mansions of the Gilded Age, Woodlands retains the charm and authenticity of that era, but is scaled for today’s homes, delivering an “elegant informal” look that has become the American ideal.

The collection of bedroom, dining room, occasional, home office and accent furniture features elegant wood textures, bold moldings and carved details, using a blend of rustic oak, oak burl and cathedral primavera veneers with poplar solids. Combined with finishes that meld brown and grey tones, these elements help Woodlands redefine traditional styling.

“After focusing on modern styling the past few years, the market is swinging back to traditional,” said Pat Watson, vice president of merchandising at Hooker Furniture. “Traditional never goes out of style, and the Woodlands Collection captures the best elements of elegant traditional styling and the relaxed look that is so popular in American homes today.”

Watson said the collection will appeal to all demographic groups, including Millennials. “Not all Millennials want everything in modern styling. We’re finding they have diverse style tastes just like previous generations.”

The principal finish for Woodlands, Heathered Lambswool, gives a subtle nod to the gray finishes of recent years, blended with brown tones that have become predominant once again to retain a classic look and feel. This primary finish is complemented by darker accent finish called Peppercorn that is offered on select pieces.

Woodlands bedroom is highlighted by two beds – a panel bed with an arched, architectural motif and an elegant upholstered sleigh bed. Other bedroom pieces include a 12-drawer dresser with curved drawers, a 3-drawer nightstand and an accent bedside piece with an acid-washed granite top.

Key dining room pieces include a 72-inch round dining table, a 60-inch friendship table that also comes with a pair of 12-inch leaves, a 97-inch tall display cabinet with a lattice-patterned back panel and a buffet with eight acid-washed granite inserts in the top.

Two Woodlands upholstery settings feature a button-tufted sofa, a conversation sofa and multiple occasional chair options.
