United Way Honors Malouf Foundation Founders for Charitable Efforts

Utah-based bedding company Malouf announced company founders Sam and Kacie Malouf recently received the Give, Advocate & Volunteer Award from the United Way of Cache Valley for their giving in the community. The local chapter of the United Way honored the couple with the award in front of a crowd of nearly 300 civic and community leaders at its annual fundraising dinner at Utah State University.

"With humility and warm hearts, from the beginning of Malouf, Sam & Kacie have understood the importance of giving back. The Maloufs are not only making a difference in our community and our state but, by focusing on the issue of human trafficking, they are making a difference in our nation and the world. Sam and Kacie epitomize our motto: Give, Advocate, and Volunteer, " said Debbie Treasure, president of United Way of Cache Valley. "We were delighted to recognize Sam and Kacie for their charitable leadership that extends well beyond the walls of our community."

After years of donating bedding products to those in need in the community, Sam and Kacie Malouf formalized the Malouf Foundation and set up a non-profit organization that could focus and extend its giving to make a measurable impact. The foundation continues to support people within its community and has adopted help for those in need of rescue and recovery from sex trafficking as its flagship cause. Beginning in January, the Malouf Foundation kicked-off its bi-annual Forging Freedom event at Las Vegas Market; first raising more than $120,000 to support the rescue and aftercare of children in sex trafficking and recently releasing the OnWatch campaign to train people to recognize the signs of trafficking.

“This award is a huge honor for Kacie and me, and a lot of the credit should go to our employees for the dedication and time they put into the Malouf Foundation,” said CEO Sam Malouf. “Kindness and giving are built into our company culture, and it’s something we want to give back to a community that’s been incredibly supportive to us over the past 15 years. United Way is a fantastic organization that does amazing work with some really great agencies in our home town, and to receive recognition from them is an enormous compliment.”

United Way of Cache Valley brings together citizens, community leaders, business, the faith community, government, non-profit organizations and other institutions to determine the most critical human issues that require collective, not just individual, action. These issues range from basic human needs, like food, shelter and emergency assistance, to emerging and growing issues like the need for affordable housing, services and support for seniors, and positive youth development.
