Ashley Furniture Industries Partners with Ashley’s Angels to Donate Bicycles to Area Children

Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. recently announced that it has partnered with local non-profit organization, Ashley’s Angels, to donate 42 bicycles, helmets and bike locks to area students in Whitehall, Arcadia, Independence.
The donated bicycles were built during Ashley’s Leadership Institute training, as a team building exercise. The company chose an activity for the training course that would benefit local schools and communities. The bike-building activity provided the leaders lessons in cooperation, collaboration, communication and leadership.
“What a day for these fortunate students; the looks in their eyes after receiving the bike was priceless! We are so fortunate to have such a great resource like Ashley's Angels in our community to continue to brighten the lives of these students,” said Paul Halverson, Principal, Arcadia Elementary School. “Bike riding is fun and healthy, not to mention it’s a great activity for the whole family to enjoy! Thank you Ashley's Angels!"
Each of the three schools received 14 bicycles to give away. Recipients were pulled from a raffle-style drawing which included all second and third grade students for each school. Each winner received a 20-inch bicycle, a helmet and a bike lock.
