LVMKT's First Look Program Showcases Directional Trends

Las Vegas Market recently announced that its proprietary FIRST LOOK trend forecast will highlight four central themes – PURIFY, MICRO, WHOLEHEARTED and CELEBRATE! – at the Summer 2018 Las Vegas Market, July 29-August 2, 2018. All Las Vegas Market exhibitors are invited to submit related products – from furniture to home décor to gifts and more – by May 15 for consideration in the FIRST LOOK display, educational seminar and at-Market Companion Guide.

“Las Vegas Market’s FIRST LOOK program has become a key industry destination for directional trend indicators, and for practical applications of these concepts,” said Karen Olson, senior vice president marketing, International Market Centers. “As the leading furniture, home décor and gift destination in the western United States, Las Vegas Market prioritizes delivery of on-trend information and ideas to both buyers and suppliers.”

The FIRST LOOK trend presentation features a curated showcase of products that reflect the diversity of styles, prices points and categories available at Summer Market. The four key trends identified for Summer 2018 FIRST LOOK are:

PURIFY
Many consumers are choosing to embrace serenity and “wellness,” seeking to wear, live with, and be nourished by products that are mindfully designed and manufactured. PURIFY showcases finishes, forms and patterns that are as fashion-forward as they are future-focused. Merchandise selections will encompass outdoor furniture; wood furniture with natural finishes; upholstery made using responsible construction and materials; personal care products; gourmet foods; area rugs; textiles; portable lighting and fixtures; personal accessories; wall décor and more.

MICRO
The current movement towards small-scale living is reflected in MICRO, a whole-home display with “macro” style. Product selections will include upholstered and accent chairs; end, nesting and drink tables; home entertainment consoles; office furniture; café and bistro tables; storage solutions; home décor; office accessories; personal accessories; housewares; tabletop and more.

WHOLEHEARTED
Building on last year’s showcase of lush, verdurous greens, WHOLEHEARTED expands the palette to include earthy blues and wholesome purples in an equally hearty color presentation. Featured merchandise will include furniture; all-weather furnishings; home décor; housewares, and gift products that showcase both deep hues and pastels, all of the blue, green and purple variety.

CELEBRATE!
From New Year’s Day brunch to Christmas festivities, CELEBRATE! marks all of the special moments, celebrations and seasons. Merchandise selections include gifts and home décor showcasing seasons, gardening, holidays and celebrations.

FIRST LOOK curator and 20-year magazine editor Julie Smith Vincenti will assemble a selection of highly-styled product vignettes in a dramatic and eye-catching display located in the Grand Plaza.
Products accepted for FIRST LOOK also will be featured in all pre-market promotional literature sent to buyers and interior designers; in social media posts; and in an image-rich publication focusing on these directional trend stories to be distributed at all Market registration areas.

In addition, Smith Vincenti will host a free, CEU-accredited FIRST LOOK seminar, on Monday, July 30, 10am – 11am, with a format tailored to today’s cross-category buyers and lifestyle stores. The latest Las Vegas Market product introductions – ranging from furniture and decor to gifts, art, handmade, table top and so much more – will be presented cohesively in a fast-paced program. Geared to both retail and designer audiences, FIRST LOOK showcases the best new-to-market products, and includes a “Top 10” trends forecast for 2018.
