American Drew Draws Inspiration from Antiques in Modern Market Introductions

Furniture World News Desk on 10/12/2016

American Drew recently announced that their High Point Market introductions are taking cues from across the pond this season. Savona, inspired by European provincial and cottage trends, and Mill + Forge, a nod to vintage, repurposed items, expand the brand’s classic, timeless offerings.

“Our design team thoughtfully crafted the fall introductions to embody the beauty of antique, timeless pieces while still maintaining a high level of functionality and quality,” said Drew Sweeney, vice president of sales and marketing for La-Z-Boy Casegoods. “Savona’s European simplicity and Mill + Forge’s vintage soul reinforce American Drew’s commitment to natural, authentic design concepts formatted for a contemporary setting.”

Savona’s finely appointed details and casual, balanced structure contribute to the collection’s Old World European feel. Inspired by Gustavian, European provincial and country cottages, the Savona collection features a unique textured Versailles finish with contrasting elm tops. A variety of moldings, metal fretwork and antiqued mirror give the collection an antique feel. The hardware complements the aesthetic with a gold antique metal finish. Perfect for clean, classic home styles, Savona puts a confident, elegant twist on antique Old World furniture trends, giving customers the vintage, antique feel they desire without sacrificing reliability and quality.

Mill + Forge is a whole-home collection constructed from Acacia veneers, with anvil metal accents, rough sawn lumber, industrial metal bases and anvil-finished hardware. The ridged texture helps create a clean, linear design that strikes the perfect balance between contemporary and traditional. Inspired by old factories and repurposed antiques, Mill + Forge offers consumers modern, well-crafted pieces, but with a vintage, artistic twist. The 25-piece collection includes signature items such as a wood slat bed complete with rod iron accents, a nine-drawer dresser and media bureau with framed seeded glass doors. Mill + Forge also features the full-extension, soft-close drawer technology born in modern kitchens as well as antique seeded glass on select pieces. Striking the ideal balance between warm, natural wood and bold, authentic metal, Mill + Forge is made for the contemporary consumer who appreciates industrial style.
Products will be on display in the 75,000-square-foot showroom for American Drew, Hammary and Kincaid Furniture, located in C926 on the ninth floor of the International Home Furnishings Center.
