Art Van Furniture and Detroit Pistons to Collect Prom Dresses for Sick Teens for Wish Upon A Teen Prom

Art Van Furniture announced that it is teaming up with the Detroit Pistons and Wish Upon A Teen, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to help make dreams come true for teenagers who won’t be able to attend their school proms due to life-limiting medical conditions. From Friday, March 15 through Monday, April 1, individuals are invited to drop off new or lightly used dresses at the Art Van Furniture showrooms in Canton, Warren, Novi, Taylor and Sterling Heights which will be donated to teens attending the charity’s annual “Evening of Dreams Prom.”
“Every young person, especially those going through difficult times, deserves to enjoy special occasions and to make happy memories,” said Ron Boire, president and CEO of Art Van Furniture. “Art Van is proud to participate in this heartwarming initiative.”
Wish Upon A Teen dedicates itself to providing resources, time and opportunities to teenagers with severe medical conditions. Each year, the nonprofit hosts its “Evening of Dreams Prom” for teens whose illness, treatment or hospitalization makes it impossible for them to attend their own school’s prom. This year’s event will be held on May 18 at Emagine Theater in Royal Oak. Over 150 teens from across metro Detroit are expected to participate.
