Houzz Opens Design and Architecture Scholarship Program Call for Entries

Furniture World News Desk on 3/8/2019

Houzz Inc., the platform for home remodeling and design, announced the call for entries for Houzz Scholarships, a program that supports the next generation of residential renovation and design professionals: students studying architecture, interior design, landscape architecture or construction management.

Houzz awards four $2,500 scholarships in the categories of ‘Women in Architecture’, ‘Residential Design’, ‘Sustainable Residential Design’ and ‘Residential Construction Management’. Scholarships are awarded biannually in the spring and fall, and Houzz is now accepting applications for fall 2019.

High school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students 17 years of age or older are invited to apply at houzz.com/scholarships. In addition to submitting a brief essay on their design and architecture influences, students are invited to create a Houzz professional student profile, where they can showcase their portfolio of work and network with more than 2.3 million active professionals around the world. The deadline for fall 2019 scholarships is June 30, 2019.

“The students who applied for the Houzz Scholarship program provided insightful perspectives on the future of the structures we call home,” said Liza Hausman, VP Industry Marketing at Houzz. “We are thrilled to support them as they continue their education and look forward to seeing their impact on our built environments.”

Spring 2019 winners are:

Women in Architecture: Katrina Uher (studying architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University)
Residential Design: Calistro Reyes (studying architecture at Kansas State University)
Sustainable Residential Design: Patrick McManama (studying interior design and environmental and sustainability studies at Indiana University Bloomington)
Residential Construction Management: Anthony Pellegrini (studying construction management at California Polytechnic State University)
