Las Vegas Market recently announced that it is offering a digital pre-release of its proprietary FIRST LOOK Guide prior to the popular program’s unveiling at the at the Winter 2018 Las Vegas Market, January 28-February 1, 2018.

The digital “sneak peek” will give the gift, home décor and furniture industries an early glimpse at the four primary design, style and color trends to be revealed at Market including: Romantics & Realists; Easy Now: Housewares & Dining; Year of the Dog; and Storytellers. (The digital version of the FIRST LOOK Companion Guide is available online at http://www.pageturnpro.com/International-Market-Centers/76639-First-Look-Winter-2018-Las-Vegas/index.html)

“Las Vegas Market’s semiannual FIRST LOOK — the multichannel program that includes an exclusive 40-page product guide, four on-site product vignettes, a CEU-accredited seminar, Pinterest boards and more — will showcase 170+ Las Vegas Market tenants and on-trend merchandise to be presented at Winter Market,” said Karen Olson, senior vice president marketing, International Market Centers. “As the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States, Las Vegas Market is committed to offering buyers and exhibitors exclusive insights into emerging trends and their practical applications.”

All Las Vegas Market exhibitors were invited to submit their newest product debuts for the 14th edition of the FIRST LOOK program, and new merchandise from some 170+ Las Vegas Market exhibitors will bring the trends to life in a variety of ways: the FIRST LOOK Guide – available online now and in print at Market; smartly-styled product vignettes in the Grand Plaza courtyard; and as part of a comprehensive seminar presentation during Market. The Winter 2018 FIRST LOOK boards and in-depth content on each trend also are available at Las Vegas Market’s blog DesignOnLVMKt and will be posted to Pinterest and #ViewOnVegas Instagram.

FIRST LOOK trends will be presented in a detailed CEU-accredited seminar on Monday, January 29, from 10 to 11am. During the information-packed session, Julie Smith Vincenti, FIRST LOOK curator and editor, will present an overview of each of the four trends along with related Las Vegas Market product introductions — ranging from furniture and home décor to gifts and tabletop. The fast-paced seminar format will be specially tailored to today’s cross-category buyers and lifestyle stores.

Following is a brief description of each trend, as well as a sampling of suppliers and products representative of each:

Romantics & Realists
Paint brands have released their top color picks for 2018, and the hues alternate between fiery red and watery blues to stately grays and atmospheric neutrals. Together, they recall the palettes of both Romantic and Realist painters. Merchandise selections will encompass: accent furniture, occasional tables, upholstery, area rugs, wall décor and wallpaper; warm and natural wood finishes; modern silhouettes in white finishes; warm metal finishes; fresh takes on traditional forms; landscapes and floral patterns; and cognac-colored leather. Las Vegas Market tenants and their featured products in this display include: Arno sofa from TOV Furniture; Spectacle chandelier from Dimond Lighting; Grace mirror from Howard Elliott; Celestial candles from Paddywax; and Presley lounge chair from Star International.

Easy Now: Housewares & Dining
Benjamin Moore’s 2018 Color of the Year, Caliente AF 290, is a backdrop for Easy Now, featuring casual dining and housewares vignettes that set a table for weekend brunch. Product categories include: casual dining sets, space-saving buffets, bistro tables/chairs, bar carts, freestanding kitchen islands, dinnerware, glassware, serve ware, flatware, table linens, housewares, small appliances, gourmet products and on-the-go beverage containers. Featured exhibitors and products include: Odin dining table from ZUO Modern; Stuart kitchen island from Mercana; Silverton chandelier from CAL Lighting; H2O rapid-boil kettle from Capresso; Abigail glassware from Skyros Designs; and Lund wine bottle and display case from Manhattan Comfort.

Year of the Dog
It’s the Year of the Dog on the Chinese zodiac calendar, and FIRST LOOK is celebrating our loyal, dependable four-legged companions (cats are welcome, too.) in a playful vignette that crosses all Las Vegas Market product categories. Merchandise selections span the gamut of home furnishings, holiday, gifts and tabletop that feature pet-related motifs. Featured exhibitors and products in this whimsical category include: Lincoln lounge chair from Sunpan; Husky pet bed from TOV Furniture; assorted note cards from Potluck Press; Odd Dog Out journals from Roger La Borde; Henderson shelf floor lamp from Adesso Home; and Bronze Guard Dog statue from Howard Elliott.

Storytellers
FIRST LOOK celebrates makers in Storytellers, this season’s nod to handmade, fair-trade and certified home and gift products. Any and all products — and the stories behind them — that showcase creativity, craftsmanship and good cause will be featured in this trend category. Look for compelling products with stories to tell, such as the Hot Chick birthday card from Good Paper; Payton console from 1429 Mfg.; KB Collection sand art, available from Pitkin Stearns; handmade soaps from Finchberry; Be Badass key chains from Badass Babe; Bath Bomb Cubes from Yuzu Soaps; and men’s skin care products from Olivina Men.
