Norwalk Furniture Corporation, a respected name in custom upholstered furniture, recently received the American Furniture Award by Home Magazine for its Barton sofa. Each year, Home Magazine hosts the American Furniture Awards to honor the year's most exceptional furniture designers and manufacturers. The American Furniture Awards salutes the finest achievements in furniture design at a reception each fall during the International Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina. This is the 11th year for the distinguished award. Norwalk's Barton sofa is among 13 winners this year representing a broad range of furniture, including a sofa, chair, and settee as well as a kitchen island and outdoor furniture. Jennifer Jones, Home Magazine Decorating Editor, says, "The award goes to furniture that inspires us, that speaks to some trend, and that we feel is innovative, stylish, and practical at once." The Barton is a smartly tailored, two-cushion, rolled arm sofa with a slightly curvaceous back that can be upholstered in any of Norwalk's one thousand custom fabrics or leathers for the body, welting and pillows. In addition, customers can choose a traditional tailored skirt or a tapered wood leg. "We're proud to be honored for our Barton design," says Jim Gerken, Chairman and CEO of Norwalk Furniture Corporation. "The Barton represents Norwalk well as we strive to help people to recognize good design and quality furniture, guide them toward the right choice for their decorating needs, and then empower them to make it their own through our array of fabrics and style options." The Barton sofa will be featured in the November issue of Home Magazine.
