Organizers of the 18th Annual Bob's Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation and Gene Rosenberg Associates Golf Outing hope to raise more than $300,000. The golf outing will be held today in Farmington, CT at the Tunxis Country Club, followed by a dinner and raffle at the Farmington Club. Bob's Charitable Foundation will distribute the proceeds in support of local charities including: The American Cancer Society's Camp Rising Sun, The Nutmeg Chapter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Family and Children's Aid, and The Connecticut Children's Medical Center. "Bob's Charitable Foundation outing has been a great source of support to us over the years it has enabled us to offer mentoring to many more children than ever expected," said Laura Green of Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Bob's Charitable Foundation was founded in 1986 to help children who have not been given a fair shot at childhood. Seventeen years ago, at the first outing, fifty people attended dinner. At this year's outing, dinner will be served to more than 400 participants.
