Capel Incorporated Hosts Successful Las Vegas Market

Capel Incorporated, manufacturer and importer of area rugs since 1917, welcomed more than 2,000 visitors to its new 4,000 square-foot showroom at the World Market Center in Las Vegas during the first Las Vegas Furniture Market. "The number of visitors Capel drew in Las Vegas was many times more than we had anticipated," said Allen Robertson, Vice President and National Sales Manager of Capel Incorporated. "We were among the first in the rug industry to see the Las Vegas market as the great opportunity that it is, and we took advantage, to great success. The other companies in our industry are just now responding." Capel received visitors from all over the country to its new showroom, but the largest number of attendees came from the Western marketplace including California, Arizona, Colorado and Utah. "We opened a lot of accounts as new dealers, particularly from the 16 Western states," Robertson said. "Dealers were excited to see our line in its entirely for the first time." Capel introduced 27 new collections during the Las Vegas Furniture Market, including casual, traditional, outdoor, and exclusive contemporary looks. Lodi Garden, a luxurious hand knotted rug made in India of 100% wool was the top seller during the five-day market. Available in four styles and eight colorways, this collection adds elegance and warmth to rooms with its 100-year-old antique appearance. Chapparral, shown for the first time at the Las Vegas Furniture market, is a high-end Western look that received a lot of attention and generated high sales. Chapparral is a hand stitched collection made of ostrich skin and cowhide. It is available in two styles and three colorways. Each Chapparral rug is a luxurious blend of texture, warmth and pattern created by combining different hides together in a patchwork pattern. Each rug is essentially a one-of-a-kind. Other collections gaining a high response during market were Capel's new contemporary collections, particularly Fantasy and Crystalle. The Fantasy collection, Capel's largest and most aggressively priced contemporary collection, was quite popular among buyers. The hand tufted collection features five designs, Astral, Circles, Ellipse, Tiles, and Triangles, in an array of colorways. The rugs have an energetic, carved look created by the interplay of shapes and forms. The Crystalle collection, a high-end, sophisticated contemporary with a distinctive Western feel, drew attention for its unique designs featuring diamonds, abstract shapes and rich colorways. Crystalle is hand knotted in India from 100% pure New Zealand wool and lustre washed for silky effect. Capel's indoor/outdoor rugs continue to be exceedingly popular at all markets. The Seabreeze collection is made of 100% olefin in a tailored design and offers five styles and seven colorways ranging from brick red to oatmeal. Woven in Belgium on a sisal-look loom, the rugs won't mold or mildew and can be cleaned with a water hose, making them perfect for outdoors as well as high traffic areas indoors. Designed to complement its selection of oval, round and rectangular shaped braided rugs, Capel also introduced a new braid shape at market, the tailored braid, which is being offered in new braided collections Canopy and Sundeck. The tailored shape is a rectangle with rounded corners and offers more floor coverage than the traditional Capel oval braid. The new shape generated much excitement and interest among buyers at market.
