The San Francisco Mart is participating in Summer Design Day from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, July 15. At this mid-year design event, the Mart’s showrooms will host mini-seminars, demonstrations and receptions, or offer special discounts on select products. The Mart’s keynote event is “Trends for Small Space Living” presented by Sarah Lynch, editor of California Home & Design magazine. Small spaces may not generate as much excitement for design professionals as larger scale projects, but for many Bay Area designers, the solutions to small-space dilemmas are often a relevant and fascinating topic. From decorating with scaled-down furnishings to creating a single eye-catching focal point or pairing down to a monochromatic palette, the ways to overcome space limitations are what many clients want and needs. Lynch will review different projects and solutions that have appeared in her publications, as well as ways to market small space renovations for publication. Sarah Lynch, the new executive editor of California Home & Design, has put her lifelong passion for interior design and architecture to use at Metropolitan Home as both assistant and associate editor. After leaving Metropolitan Home, she worked as the special projects editor for Ohio magazine and as managing editor for Pottery Barn’s interior design series. Sarah has authored five books on architecture and interior design, including Modern Color and 77 Habits for Highly Creative Interior Designers. The seminar will be held from 2:30 – 4 p.m. at the SF Mart. Admission is $15 for Mart members and $20 for non-members. Reservations and pre-payment required; your check or credit card guarantees your spot. To RSVP with a credit card, call 415-437-7100, or send a check payable to the SF Mart to: SF Mart, Attn: Keri Campbell, 1355 Market St., Suite 294, San Francisco, CA 94103. Summer Design Day will be held at the San Francisco Mart and the SF Design Center. Admission to Design Day is free and a free shuttle will run between the two venues from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. The San Francisco Mart, located at 1355 Market Street between Ninth and Tenth Streets, features hundreds of lines of home furnishings and accessories, and is open to retail buyers and design professionals throughout the year.
