Mitsubishi Fuso has become the first manufacturer of medium-duty cabover trucks to augment its bumper-to-bumper warranty (36 months, unlimited mileage) with a limited 5-year powertrain warranty, available beginning with its new 2006 models. According to Robert E. McDowell, Executive Vice President and COO of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA), “The primary purpose of this new 5-year limited powertrain warranty is to demonstrate to our customers our commitment to quality in a way that benefits them directly. At the same time, we’ve thoroughly assessed our vehicle performance, reliability and manufacturing integrity, and we’ve concluded that offering the new limited 5-year warranty will also give us a definite competitive advantage in the medium-duty commercial truck market.” Mitsubishi Fuso’s new limited 5-year powertrain warranty extends coverage on the most important components of its class 4 and class 5 FE and FG model medium-duty cabover trucks for a full 60 months or 175,000 miles from warranty start date. And it covers all crucial powertrain components, including the engine, Aisin automatic transmission or Mitsubishi manual transmission (however equipped), clutch housing and pressure plate assembly, rear axle housing and internal parts on all models, and the front axle housing and internal parts on 4-wheel-drive FG models. There are limitations or exclusions to its bumper- to-bumper and powertrain warranties, which are not necessarily limited to, but include the expected list of fluids and filters, normal wear items like tires, brake and clutch linings and wiper blades, and custom truck bodies, plus failures due to abuse, accident, improper maintenance and the like. The full warranty details and limitations are available from Mitsubishi Fuso authorized dealers. “We’re proud of this new warranty,” says McDowell, “and we believe our customers will recognize what it says about the quality of new Mitsubishi Fuso trucks.” Mitsubishi Fuso has also intrtoduced the First 5-Year/250,000-Mile Limited Powertrain Warranty on their Class 6 and Class 7 Medium-Duty Commercial Trucks.
