Johnston Casuals adapted the stylized architecture of pre-World War II modern interiors to create their Urban Woods' Platinum Collection. This tone on tone collection is a study in contrasts: light tonal values and sturdy heaviness. Gray- Hued white-washed (Pearl Ash) wood is sleek and subtly shiny. The bold rectangular shape of the collection contrast with curved, Deco legs crafted of (Matrix Silver) matte steel. Like many pieces created during the American Moderne Movement of the thirties, Platinum evokes the glamour of the age with it's rectilinear form, streamlined design, and suggestion of industrial design. "There's always room for glamour in sophisticated interiors," says Joe Johnston. "The Platinum Collection is sensual without being overpowering. It has presence, yet its functionality is apparent."
