Thomasville Furniture Opens New Store in Washington, D.C. New Retail Store Openings Continue in Line With Thomasville's Aggressive 2001Store Opening Goals

Thomasville Furniture announced the opening of a new Vienna, Va., store as part of the company's aggressive initiative to open 25 or more stores nationwide this year. Thomasville Home Furnishings of Vienna is located at 8461 Leesburg Pike in Tysons Comer. General Manager Rich Szczepaniak said the Washington, D.C., market is ideal for a new Thomasville store and provides an excellent opportunity for growth. "We are delighted to have found such an outstanding location on one of America's best commercial strips -Tysons Comer," Szczepaniak said. Store owners and brothers Michael Massood, Jr., and Edward Massood have now opened three of five Thomasville Home Furnishings stores in the D.C. area this year, including Fairfax, Va., and Alexandria, Va.. "We have been planning this venture into the Washington, D.C., market for two years," said Michael Massood. "We look forward to developing the market based upon Thomasville's broad product line that caters to a variety of decorating lifestyles." The store at Fairlakes Mall in Fairfax, Va., opened March 2001 followed by one at Potomac Yard in Alexandria, Va., in the summer. Other stores in the area will include Rockville, Md., and Dulles Town Crossing in Sterling, Va. "We congratulate the Massoods and their management team on the opening of the Thomasville store in Tysons Comer," said Bob Shaak, Vice President and General Sales Manager. "They are to be commended for opening three Thomasville stores in the last nine months. Traffic and sales to date have shown the furniture customers of this area were waiting and ready for these stores."
