AATCC Foundation Sponsors First Program - From Design to Retailer: Bridging the Gap June 20-23, 2000 Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

The AATCC Foundation, Inc. which was chartered in August 1997 as a public charitable foundation, will sponsor its first program June 20-23, 2000 in Research Triangle Park, N.C. The program titled, From Design to Retailer: Bridging the Gap, will focus on home furnishings and apparel textiles. The program is open to the general public and may be of particular interest to retailers and educators in textile/consumer science departments. An optional day of plant tours will be offered on June 23. Highlighting the program will be a keynote address by J. Berrye Worsham, President of Cotton Incorporated. Challenges facing Cotton will be the focus of his presentation. Sessions, topics and speakers include: Session I, Influencing the Consumer's First Choice Color Perception and Evaluation, Ann C. A featured part of the program will be tours of Cotton Incorporated, Textile Clothing Technology Corp. (TC2), North Carolina State University's College of Textiles, and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC). This program is open to all interested parties. A registration fee of $675 includes continental breakfasts, luncheons, Book of Papers and tour transportation. Participants may opt to tour Culp Inc.'s Upholstery Prints Plant in Burlington, N.C. and Guilford Mills Inc. on June 23. These plants produce fabrics for apparel and home furnishings that go into products which are purchased by consumers throughout the world. At these plants participants will observe weaving, jet and beam dyeing, printing, heat setting, dye and physical testing labs, and inspection operations. These plant tours are offered for an additional cost of $70. This cost includes a continental breakfast and transportation from the hotel to the plants and back. Lunch on Friday will be Dutch treat.
