In its first website poll, the National Home Furnishing Association, based in High Point, N.C., found that 76 percent of furniture retailers responding said they favor a Las Vegas market – a result that bodes well for the World Market Center SM Las Vegas. “The word-of-mouth being generated in the industry about world World Market Center SM Las Vegas is evident in the results of this survey,” said ShawnSamson, a managing partner of World Market Center SM. “The excitement is beginning to take shape, and is further elevating Las Vegas in the minds of buyers at the national and international level.” The NHFA.org survey results closely mirror the results of an independent survey of the top 200 furniture retailers in the country conducted last spring. That survey was conducted by the highly respected Center for Business and Economic Research at University of Nevada at Las Vegas in conjunction with L.A. Mayo & Associates, and commissioned by Furniture Mart Enterprises, LLC, the company that is developing the planned 7.5 million square foot home furnishings showroom complex in Las Vegas. That survey found that a majority of buyers do not currently have a propensity to shop regional markets, yet 75 percent of those surveyed said they plan to attend the Las Vegas Market. Although demographics of survey respondents were not available, 55 percent of respondents stated that they attend two markets each year while 14percent said they attend three annually. Another 12 percent said they attend one or five each year. In what is likely the NHFA.org survey’s most encouraging finding, 90 percent of respondents said their business had increased this year.
