Vaughan Furniture Company, manufacturer of the Young Ages Collections for tots through teens, has announced a $25,000 donation to America’s Promise, the not-for-profit national organization whose mission is to mobilize people from every sector of American life to build the character and competence of the nation’s youth. For Vaughan, the donation kicks off what will be a yearlong commitment to raising visibility and funds for America’s Promise, according to Bill Vaughan, company president. As part of that effort, Vaughan retailers will be invited to participate in the company’s program starting in 2003. “We hope that our ongoing campaign will raise far more than the initial $25,000,” observed Bill Vaughan. “We are looking forward to getting involved with this great cause in support of America’s youth.” The Young Ages Collections are a highlight of the Vaughan Furniture line; the company’s growing focus on practical and appealing youth furniture makes funding an organization for young people a natural step, he said. “We want to be involved with America’s youth every step of the way.” Originally led by Colin Powell, the goal of America’s Promise is to fulfill five “promises” for young people: Ongoing relationships with caring adults in their lives – parents, mentors, tutors or coaches; Safe places with structured activities during non-school hours; Healthy start and future Marketable skills through effective education, and Opportunities to give back through community service A portion of future additional funds will derive from sales of Vaughan’s Young Ages Collections, which feature complete wrap groups, as well as trundle beds, desks and accommodations for young computer enthusiasts. Vaughan’s Young Ages collections can organize chaos and bring functionality to youthful living. Style categories within the Young Ages collection include Simply Shaker, Metro Contemporary, Farm House, Pamela Scurry’s Cottage Garden, Lifestyle Casual and Louie Phillipe. The Young Ages Collections are available at dealers nationwide. About Vaughan Furniture: Vaughan Furniture Company, Galax, VA, has been creating fine wood furniture since 1923.
