In recognition of its manufacturing capabilities and contributions to the county’s economic and community development, Habersham Furniture Company was presented with the Industry of the Year award by the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 5, 2005, during the Chamber’s annual awards dinner at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa, GA.

Chamber members nominate and vote on area businesses for the Industry of the Year award. “Habersham has an excellent reputation and we’re pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the company for its many contributions to our community,” said Jay Doss, Board of Directors Member of the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce and sales manager for Toccoa-based Adams Container.

“Toccoa and Stephens County have been instrumental in our company’s continued growth and success. At a time when many other manufacturers are moving overseas, we have continued to hire new associates and see increased sales here at our national headquarters in Toccoa,” says Matt Eddy, president, Habersham. “We certainly wouldn’t be where we are today without our strong faith and the tremendous support of the wonderful people and businesses in this community. We’ve been blessed and we want to continue giving back to a community that has given so much to us.”

This award joins others Habersham has garnered over the years, including a 2004 Commendation by Sonny Perdue, Governor of the State of Georgia, for Habersham Founder Joyce Eddy in recognition of her contributions to the state’s economic development. In addition, President Ronald Reagan recognized Joyce Eddy as Georgia Small Business Person of the Year in 1984.
