Sligh Furniture announced that it is showing its support as a sponsor of The Susan G. Komen foundation’s Build for the Cure show home in the south Charlotte suburb of Fort Mill, SC.

The company is donating furniture to outfit the 5,700 square foot home’s dedicated home office. Pieces from Sligh’s Tahoe collection, featuring an elegant leg desk, storage cabinet and a pair of flanking bookcases will  anchor the office and illustrate how cleverly designed home office furnishings can enhance  and organize today’s home technology needs.

The Susan G. Komen foundation’s second annual Build for the Cure home will be used to raise funds and awareness for the Susan G Komen Fund, the largest grassroots initiative for finding a cure for breast cancer.

The Build for the Cure show home is part of a series of national events focused on breast cancer awareness during the month of October. The house is open to the public for tours throughout October.  Following the close of the public events, all of the home furnishings and décor will be sold at a black-tie auction with proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Fund.

“We at Sligh are delighted to be able to furnish the home office in this magnificent Southern Traditional home,” said Rob Sligh, chairman of Sligh. “The Susan G. Komen Build for the Cure home is an outstanding project and promises to raise much needed funds to fight breast cancer. We’re proud to be a part of this effort.”

The home also will be featured on PBS’s acclaimed show, For Your Home, hosted by Vicki Payne in its fall, 2009 series. Payne has worked closely with the builder to complete the construction and final design elements chosen for the home.   The show will follow the home’s construction, interior design, and landscape design throughout the 2009-2010 season, beginning November.  For Your Home is the #2 most aired home and garden show, airing on more than 700 PBS stations nationwide.

E.S. Johnson Builders started construction of the home in January and it was completed in September. Special events, workshops, and tours are taking place with all proceeds benefiting the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
