When it comes to where to stay while visiting the world’s home for home furnishings, Market-goers have a world of options these days. Among these is nearby Winston-Salem, North Carolina, just 20 minutes from High Point, recognized as one of America’s “Most Livable Cities.”

To promote that message to guests of the High Point Market, the Winston-Salem Conventions and Visitors Bureau announced that it has created a new micro-site, www.minutestomarket.com, now linked to both the High Point Market Authority site, www.highpointmarket.org, and www.visitwinstonsalem.com, a complete, online travel and tourism guide to Winston-Salem.

“Visit Winston-Salem created www.minutestomarket.com in partnership with the High Point Market Authority to communicate to potential Market attendees the many value options available within close proximity to the showrooms,” relates Visit Winston-Salem Interim President Carmen Caruth. “As value and affordability become more important to everyone, Winston-Salem offers a range of hotels and dining experiences that make travel to Market within any company’s reach.”

Additionally, Caruth notes, “The High Point Market is an economic engine for the entire Triad region. In creating this micro-site, we obviously wanted to promote the benefits that staying in Winston-Salem offers attendees, but at the same time, our goal is to support the Market Authority’s efforts to provide attractive and affordable options for accommodations during these challenging economic times.”

According to Brian D. Casey, president and chief executive officer of the High Point Market Authority, official sponsor of the High Point Market, “In Winston-Salem, Market-goers will find an abundant selection of affordable hotels, innovative chef-owned restaurants and a commute to Market that’s surprisingly convenient. Not to mention friendly hosts and panoramas of natural beauty indicative of this region of North Carolina. Additionally, the City offers Market-goers plenty to see and do after their work is done at Market.”

Among the attractions, curiosity-seekers can admire the fantastical furnishings of the “Strangest House in the World,” while art-lovers can indulge their interests at The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts and Reynolda House Museum of American Art. And, during Market-week this Spring, film-buffs can catch a quick flick at the River Run International Film Festival located here, which is rapidly gaining a reputation as the Sundance of the South.
