Fine Furniture Design Adds Performance Fabrics to ‘FFD Armour’

Furniture World News Desk on 6/7/2018

Fine Furniture Design reports that it recently doubled its performance fabric offering to a total of 14 and is adding them to its Fine Furniture Armour product protectant program. The fabrics, which set industry standards for durability, soil resistance and cleanability, are offered across all Fine Furniture Design upholstered items, including sofas, chairs, settees, ottomans, benches, upholstered beds as well as dining chairs and barstools in the Protégé Custom Dining Collection.

The High Point-based case goods and upholstery manufacturer introduced Fine Furniture Armour last spring, with the launch of a water-based protective finish for its case good products that provides durability against tough stains such as wine, ketchup and nail polish remover. The increased availability and ongoing improvement in styles and textures of performance fabrics in the industry has played a large role in the expansion of the company’s fabric options.

“In addition to the durability attributes, these fabrics don’t have a stereotypical ‘performance’ look or feel,” said Erin Sullivan, vice president of product development for Fine Furniture Design. “The mills we have partnered with offer a variety of colors, patterns and textures, each with a soft hand, along with robust attributes suited to resist daily wear, making them particularly appropriate for heavily trafficked areas, such as dining rooms.

“With today’s more relaxed lifestyles, consumers want to ‘live’ in every room of their homes, and that especially includes rooms with upholstered products,” she continued. “We’ve had performance fabrics in our line for quite some time, but as consumer interest continues to lean towards fabrics that resist stains and clean more easily, it was time to expand our offering.

To promote the availability of the expanded performance fabric offering with its retail partners, the company will be rolling out a variety of marketing materials in the coming months. Materials include trade advertisements, retail and showroom signage, sales materials, tear sheets and other retail point-of-sale tools.
