Lazzaro Leather Adds New Las Vegas Showroom

The Lucio Collection leads Lazzaro Leather's Las Vegas Market debuts.

Lazzaro Leather and its LEA division recently reported that it will make their official Las Vegas Market debut in a new 3,000-square-foot showroom at the winter show taking place Jan. 28 to Feb. 1. The showroom is located in space A-932 of the World Market Center. Lazzaro has signed a five-year lease on the space.

"We showed in a temporary space as a test at last summer's market and, based on our success, have opted to take a permanent showroom in Las Vegas," said Lauri Cryan, president of Lazzaro Leather. "I feel like we should have been in Vegas three years ago because of the strong fit that exists between our line and the market's mix of diverse offerings and on-trend product that screams West Coast. The fact that we only warehouse in North Carolina was the show-stopper until now."

During its test market last summer, Lazzaro Leather rolled out a new West Coast program with special pricing that includes freight.

"We worked hard with our most-popular carriers that can deliver in seven to ten days," Cryan said. "As a result, even with last summer's relatively slow market overall, we drew 67 West Coast and Midwest customers who had never seen our program before, and we opened up a number of accounts after the show."

Before the test, Cryan thought retailers shopping the Las Vegas Market would only want to see the contemporary part of the Lazzaro Leather line. But Midwest customers, who were impressed by the company's quality and value in contemporary, also expressed interest in viewing Lazzaro's more classic and traditional offerings.

"Traditional is what we started with when we opened in 2009, and we do it well," said Cryan. "So, for the winter market, we are sticking with our tagline, which says 'You Can Take Our Brand Anywhere,' and making sure there is something for everyone in our showroom. We hope to grow both our Midwest and West Coast business by letting retailers and designers know we are here and what we're about."

Lazzaro Leather serves a mix of Top 100 and independent stores, interior designers and e-commerce specialists, Cryan added.


At the winter Las Vegas Market, Lazzaro will feature a creative assortment of traditional and contemporary leather upholstery pieces with matching occasional and accent items, including its classic wine cabinets and a bomber leather collection. The star of the show is expected to be the new Lucio sofa, love seat, chair and ottoman collection, which is being shown for the first time in Las Vegas. A clean-lined, classic design with a chic, contemporary appeal, the Lucio collection of seating sports wide arms covered in a rich, soft vintage merlot leather. Other features include unique, biscuit-tufted patterns on the outside arm panels, large chunky, stainless steel legs and a coordinating bench ottoman that spans the length of the sofa.

During market, Lazzaro also will spotlight LEA Sleep Systems, which features a mix of adjustable bed bases as well as made-in-the-USA mattresses and pillows.

Lazzaro's new Las Vegas Market showroom will be set up year-round and available for use by its sales representatives in the Midwest and West as needed. The showroom's design was created by Mary Jane Johnson, owner of Ingenue Inc., who "has done a fabulous job of presenting our product in a fresh, engaging manner that retailers can adopt for use on their own store floors," Cryan said. "For our Vegas showroom, Mary Jane has used a series of unique drop-in screens to break up the space without creating boring boxed vignettes. The result is quite inviting."

The Lazzaro Leather line is available on a direct-container basis from the company's China facilities, or in smaller quantities from its High Point warehouse. Also available from the High Point warehouse is Lazzaro's LEA line, a one-stop-shop source of bedding and accent items that can be direct shipped via UPS to consumers within 24 hours.
