Kane’s Furniture Names New Chief Marketing Officer

Kane’s President and CEO Irwin Novack recently announced that Bert Sutcliffe—an executive with more than two decades of experience in strategic planning, marketing and development—is the new Chief Marketing Officer of Florida-based Kane’s Furniture.

Prior to joining Kane’s, Sutcliffe worked on the Kane’s account at Zimmerman Advertising, helping the furniture company achieve 22 straight quarters of positive sales comps, dating back to 2012. During this time, he also assisted Chicago’s The RoomPlace in achieving a robust growth trajectory.

An expert in developing strategic initiatives in the health, sports, restaurant, hospitality and furniture sectors, Sutcliffe was founder and president of Sutcliffe Partners in Washington D.C.

“Bert brings a wealth of experience and a string of successes to the Kane’s team,” said Novack. “We are pleased to have him aboard as we continue to collaborate with our customers and grow the business.”

Sutcliffe developed annual strategic marketing plans that met or exceeded growth plans, created brand platforms boasting a strong position, monitored industry trends/landscape and managed teams of 40+ employees from all departments, including research, media and creative.

In addition, he managed budgets, including staff, media, production, licensing and fees, for both clients and agencies, and worked with analytics teams to uncover new strategies, resulting in higher efficient campaigns.

One of his most notable achievements was the development of strategic initiatives to increase attendance at Gallaudet University, as well as establishing the first-of-its-kind bilingual neighborhood, serving deaf and hearing alike. Sutcliffe also initiated a business incubator program to attract young deaf entrepreneurs.

Kane’s, one of the oldest and most respected home furnishing businesses in Florida, was established in 1948 when it opened its first store in downtown St. Petersburg.
