Universal Furniture Unveils Zephyr Collection

Zephyr, a casual and lighthearted contemporary collection was shown at Fall High Point Market.

Universal Furniture recently unveiled the new Zephyr collection in their showroom at Fall High Point Market. A casual and lighthearted contemporary collection with a well-defined, wire brushed grain and medium gray, matte finish, Zephyr employs quartered and flat cut oak intermixed with metal, fiber and stone.

This mix of casual materials interlaces with signature details including contemporized flat louvers and perimeter trim, creating depth and definition to the designs without overpowering them.

Finishes and Materials

• Solana – A gray medium driftwood is the collection’s main finish


• Polaris – A cobalt colored accent finish seen in two-toned pieces like the round dining table and chairside tables.


• Danish cord – a three-ply twisted paper cord which became popular after World War II, this classic European material looks a lot like rush, in a grayish-white tone.


• Stone – a white marble with gray veining seen in a bedside table


• Hardware – custom dimpled texture on long, convex bars in a brushed stainless finish

Two beds anchor the collection. The first features a fully upholstered button tufted headboard complete with a nail head trim accent. Accompanying the fully upholstered bed is a louvered headboard bed with platform base.

The shimmer of polished stainless steel highlights several signature pieces. A rectangular dining table with offset, flat column stainless legs will dominate the dinner conversation. But perhaps the most striking piece is the console table topped in wire brushed oak supported by a stylized hourglass base in polished stainless steel.

Upholstery
Complementing the case pieces are a sofa and several accent chairs. They are a mixture of styles unified in a common gray fabric color palette.

Niles sofa – gray wooden plinth base, updated chesterfield style, upholstered in gray felted fabric with nail head trim. Apartment sized with a low-back and abbreviated depth seating.

Reed accent chair – wood-framed accent chair with arms and an open louvered back in a gray finish. Gray back and seat pillows.

Teague accent chair – a stylized version of the classic mission design, with a wooden, floating frame in gray finish with fully upholstered back and seat.
