Furniture World News Desk on 10/17/2017

Havartys recently announced an expansion that adds more than 150,000 square feet to Havertys’ Dallas-area furniture warehouse. It is the company’s latest move to enhance customer service and improve delivery processes.

The Atlanta-based furniture company’s Western Distribution Center, located in the suburban Dallas community of Coppell, TX, serves 30 Havertys stores across Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana. Construction begins this month with completion expected by April 2018.

“We’ve been planning for this expansion for quite a while as a way to improve our ability to deliver to our customers,” said Clarence Smith, Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer for Havertys.“We’ll be well-positioned to offer the best service to the central United States for years to come.”

The distribution center opened in 1997, and is one of seven Havertys warehouses around the country. When the Western Distribution Center expansion is completed, the facility will be nearly 370,000 square feet. The facility employs approximately 190 people, including distribution center employees, drivers who serve the Dallas market, customer service representatives and other professional positions.

In addition to the expanded warehouse, plans include an increased parking area that will accommodate up to 157 trailers in the truck yard at one time.

“The Western region is an important part of our company’s growth,” said John Gill, Vice President of Operations for Havertys. “We see this expansion as an investment in the future of our company.”
