Gordon Hecht Joins With Carpet One To Benefit First Responders

Furniture World News Desk on 8/14/2017

Gordon Hecht, The Retail Observer Columnist for Furniture World Magazine (his day job is Senior Manager-In Store Concepts for Serta Simmons Bedding Company) will be joining Carpet One Floor & Home members and associates in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation Annual T2T 5K Run & Walk in New York City on September 24th.

The event honors the sacrifice of Firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. The Tunnel to Towers foundation supports our first responders and our military through the Building for America’s Bravest organization. This organization builds Smart Homes for our most catastrophically injured veterans.

In grateful appreciation for their sacrifice and service to their country, Carpet One Floor & Home Members and Mohawk Industries have partnered to furnish and install all the flooring for the homes built by Building for America’s Bravest. “Participating in the T2T 5K Run & Walk to raise funds for Building for America’s Bravest is a great opportunity to bring our entire company and all of our associates closer together,” said Eric Demaree, President of Carpet One Floor & Home. Since 2014, Carpet One Floor & Home has been proud to partner with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Building for America’s Bravest program and have helped complete 32 homes and provided funds for many initiatives.

“We are overwhelmed by Carpet One Floor & Home’s support of our organization and our cause,” said Frank Siller, chairman of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. “We are honored that their entire team is taking their valuable time to participate in our annual event.”

Also participating in the 5K are many of the injured veterans who have had a Smart Home built for them. Several of these veterans have attended Carpet One Floor & Home’s bi-annual conventions to meet staff and store owners.

Carpet One Floor & Home Members & Associates have set a goal of $100,000 to be raised for the race in September to help build these much needed and much deserved Smart Homes. Gordon will be joined in the race by his wife, Michelle Hecht. Donations can be made online through the team’s official Crowdrise page at www.crowdrise.com/carpetonefloorandhome/fundraiser/donations-carpetone.
