Simply Amish recently announced that it has partnered with four students through The Briner School of Business at Greenville College, to offer them a chance to network and gain real-world experience. Kevin Kauffman, owner of Simply Amish challenged the students to help design a unique piece of multi-use furniture that would work well in small spaces, but would feature a surprise function.
In one semester the team, their college faculty mentor, and Kauffman were able to produce a final prototype ready to debut as a Simply Amish offering: the Loft mini bar.
Kauffman quipped, “There is some irony that an Amish company and a Christian college have teamed up to design a high-tech mini bar. The piece appears normal, but has a motorized storage compartment that vertically lifts out of the piece, revealing whatever bottles of refreshment you prefer.”
Simply Amish will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the mini-bar to Greenville College.
Kauffman enjoyed the process, and observed, “The students gained a taste of the high stakes environment beyond the classroom, and I felt energized being around all that talent and enthusiasm.”
