At the April 2017 High Point Furniture Market Thom Filicia will be adding about a dozen new pieces to his highly-acclaimed furniture collections from Vanguard.

Andy Bray, Vanguard’s President, said, “unlike other furniture companies we do not try to re-create ourselves every six months. We are known as the affordable custom experts and we challenge our “A-list” of designers to add to and improve upon their existing collections. The marketplace tells us which pieces are missing and we design around what they tell us the market is demanding. Virtually everything we offer is available in multiple fabrics and70+ finishes, so we encourage interior designers and consumers to collaborate with the finest furniture designers to create the piece that is perfect for them.”

This market Filicia is adding a desk and a side table to his Homer collection, best known for its rectilinear lines, mitered joints and elegant simplicity. He will add an entertainment cabinet to his Marcellus collection renowned for its mixed-media and industrial metal bass that runs through the drawer fronts. But the showstopper this April will be the fully upholstered Lucite bed with satin brass accents. The ethereal transparent Lucite gives the feeling of floating in air, grounded by the weight of polished brass. The upholstered headboard, footboard and side rails provide softness and warmth. It has a companion mirror to complete the look.

One of the more interesting introductions is the reversible Fenton Étagère. Placed vertically, it becomes an interesting bookshelf and display piece, with unusual nooks to fit interesting curios and objets d'art. When placed horizontally it becomes a unique console table.

Filicia says his Home Collection was born from his “desire to create home furnishings that are exceptional, accessible and designed for the way we live today. His collections capture classic simplicity, while introducing a unique modern flair that is both timely and timeless. They combine style and taste with today's desire for comfort, simplicity and innovation. The result is a unique look where refined details mix with raw materials, industrial elements play against organic features, and colors, textures and patterns are used in innovative ways to create a collection with a sophisticated and authentic point of view.”

There will be a full complement of new upholstery in stunning new fabrics which he will reveal at market. Filicia noted, “I not only love working with Vanguard because of the wonderful team of people that make it all happen, but also because of their ability to offer my designs in so many custom choices. Upholstery can be covered in a myriad of leathers and fabrics and the case goods can be customized in 70+ finishes.
