The Furniture First board of directors announced that Andrew Kauffman has been promoted to the position of CEO of Furniture First following the resignation of Dino Cefili last week.

Kauffman joined Furniture First in 2011 as Director of Mattresses. During his time at that post Furniture First launched the retail store concept for Mattress 1st, an extension of the group’s private label mattress line that is built by Serta exclusively for the cooperative’s members. Kauffman was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2016.

In a notice sent to Furniture First members, current board chairman and owner of Scholet Furniture, Art Scholet, commended Kauffman’s performance and outlined the board’s priorities for Kauffman’s new role, including growing membership, strengthening vendor partnerships, expanding the Mattress 1st retail store program, increasing Tools 2B First enrollment, and developing performance groups for the members of Furniture First.

Kauffman will attend the High Point market and will be in and out of the Furniture First showroom in IHFC G-770.

Furniture First is a cooperative national home furnishings and mattress buying group serving full line independent retailers with sales over $2 million. With 469 store fronts represented in 47 states, the members collectively produce $2 billion in retail sales.
