New for the April High Point Market, over 25 first-time and anchor exhibitors debut as Mill Village Collective, showcasing innovators, makers, specialty producers and custom furnishings manufacturers, located in showrooms at 1014 Mill Ave., off S. Elm St.

Mill Village Collective is organized by Tim Branscome, principal of Branscome International Group (BIG), who, in partnership with Cisco Brothers, which owns the 240,000-square-foot, historic building – a former textile mill – aims to create a destination for connecting High Point Market attendees with leading edge and design-forward exhibitors.

First-time exhibitors situated on the showroom building’s upper floor include:

PrintTheFuture – On-demand, 3D printing of customizable furnishings and décor objects. Live demonstration at Mill Village, following the highly publicized, month-long pop up event in NYC.

Rock Paper Robot – Design and engineering boutique specializing in kinetic furnishings. CEO Jessica Banks earned a Master’s degree in robotics and is a TED Talks presenter.

Organic Modernism – Functional mid-century-inspired furniture label, founded in Brooklyn.

Schuster – Furnishings and accent items from award-winning Brazilian designers.

Dry Dock Electric –LED-filament lightbulbs in vintage classic and modern styles.

Local companies, also exhibiting on the upper floor, include Buzzi-Space, which produces modern workspace furnishings, Splash Works, photographer Ron Royals, Red Egg (in an ancillary location), Lumina Products Inc., ECOFLAME and Brian Studio.

Cisco Brothers and its sister brand Environment are the building’s anchor exhibitors, located on the ground floor.

The light-filled, red brick structure is situated on the perimeter of downtown High Point’s main showroom campus. “We think ‘the edge of Market’ is an apt metaphor for our show-in-show experience,” said Branscome.

Beyond exhibitor product offerings and custom services, visitors to Mill Village Collective are invited to access co-working spaces, live demonstrations, complimentary Wi-Fi, an outdoor lounge, evening networking events and free parking.

Mill Village Collective Hours of Operation are:

Fri., Apr. 21 – Mon., Apr. 24 9 am – 9 pm
Tue., Apr. 25 9 am – 6:00 pm

Food trucks, including Brown Truck Micro-brewery, will be on site Friday through Monday evenings.

Transportation options include Market’s free, Go Anywhere vans shuttle service, including pick-up and drop-off at the Main Transportation Terminal on Commerce Ave., or by calling 336-887-RIDE (7433) to request pick-up at a specific location within three miles of High Point.

“Our showrooms are only a five-minute drive from downtown,” said Branscome. “We’re offering a stage where buyers and guests welcome to relax, learn and experience new ideas, and discover new resources.”

After the April Market, BIG and Cisco Brothers will collaborate on next steps for a longer-term growth plan, informed by a host of disruptive factors in the marketplace.

“We have seen significant changes in recent years in the way furniture is bought and sold, as well as changes in the way people live and select the products they live with,” said Branscome. “As an industry, it’s vital that we understand how the new sharing economy, consumer demand for customization and personalization, collaboration, sustainability, social responsibility, community, technology, authenticity and storytelling will impact consumer transactions.”

“These ideas underscore our intentions for Mill Village Collective,” he added. “We’re looking ahead to the future.”

ABOUT MILL VILLAGE COLLECTIVE: Mill Village Collective is a leading edge trade show event organized by Branscome International Group (BIG), located in a former textile mill in High Point, N.C. Showcasing more than two dozen exhibitors, the event runs concurrently with the biannual High Point Market, the world’s largest home furnishings trade show.

BIG and Los Angeles-based Cisco Brothers, a leader in sustainable furniture manufacturing practices and a multi-store retailer, are working in collaboration to develop the initiative. The once derelict property now known as Mill Village was transformed by Cisco in 2008, adhering to LEED standards, and is the company’s flagship trade showroom. At the time of purchase in 2005, Cisco named the building Mill Village, denoting the surrounding neighborhood which housed the mill’s workers.

Tim Branscome, principal of BIG, has created show-in-show events and B2B platforms for furnishings and design in several USA markets and across Europe, while serving in roles as a senior executive for London-based, United Business Media (UBM plc) and World Market Center Las Vegas.
