Historic Southern Plantation Homes Inspire Wesley Allen Sleigh Bed Design For High Point Market

Furniture World News Desk on 4/21/2017

Handcrafted iron furniture supplier Wesley Allen reports that it found inspiration for a newly designed, metal sleigh bed from a tour of historic plantation homes in Georgia and South Carolina. The Plantation bed will be featured during High Point Market in the company’s showroom located at 100 N. Hamilton St. at the corner of Broad Avenue in downtown High Point, N.C.

Designed with an elegantly shaped sleigh, Plantation makes a prominent statement crafted in the company’s Los Angeles factory. Priced to retail at $1,800, the bed will be shown in the company’s Copper Bisque finish.

“Touring through a number of plantations throughout South Carolina and Georgia was a true walk through history,” said Victor Sawan, CEO of Wesley Allen. “The historic homes and their furnishings provided a great deal of design inspiration. From the wrought iron railings gracing front staircases to the grand columns to the wealth of handmade antique furnishings, I found a treasure trove of design ideas. The Plantation bed is the result of the tours.”

The bed is adapted for today’s lifestyle with an adapted sleigh shape designed so as not to require an abundance of floor space. The bed is available in any of the company’s more than 40 finishes
“The Plantation bed hearkens back to a bygone era of large homes, formal living and elegant beds,” said Chris Henning, president and COO of Wesley Allen. “The traditional design will blend into a number of design settings with ease.”

In addition to the Plantation bed, Wesley Allen will introduce the Malina, a contemporary panel bed crafted in the company’s signature sheet metal. Malina features a tall panel headboard accented with punch hole detail around the edge. Featured in the company’s Bronze finish, the bed is priced to retail at $1,300.
