Home Furnishings And Design Industries Mourn the Loss of Ann Lambeth

Furniture World News Desk on 1/20/2017

Design industry icon Ann Lambeth passed away last week after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Ann was vice president of the J Lambeth trade showroom for more than 40 years. J Lambeth is a founding showroom in the Washington Design Center. The Lambeth family has been an integral part of the home furnishings industry for over a century. Ann was not only part of the Lambeth family, she also served as an advisor to the CEO of The Tomlinson Companies, Rod Lambeth.

The design industry was a lifelong passion of Lambeth’s. A leader in the Washington Design Center, she had a powerful impact on the industry through her work on a large number of local, regional and national boards. She was an innovative part of developing and launching international boutique collections for textiles, wallpaper and furniture. She was energized by mentoring young design talent and fulfilled by watching their success. Ann had a voice in championing causes important to interior designers and was a solid force in establishing standards in the design industry.

“Ann was a powerhouse,” said Rod Lambeth, CEO of Tomlinson. “I can’t begin to count the number of designers who have told me that they wouldn’t be where they are today without Ann’s guidance. She was tireless in her passion and work for the design industry and she was a true style maven and design icon. Even more impressively, she accomplished all that she did with a quiet determination and without wanting any accolades. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out.”

To honor her, a scholarship has been established: The J Lambeth Memorial Scholarship. Ann Lambeth’s legacy will live on and will benefit design students with awards from the scholarship to help achieve their design degrees. The Scholarship Awards Committee will be chaired by Mr. Barry Dixon and members are leaders in the design industry. For additional information, please visit www.jlambeth.com/jlms.
