Rooms to Go Has Committed $250,000 to The New Home of The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame

Furniture World News Desk on 6/7/2021

A $250,000 gift has been received from Rooms to Go for the Building Fund of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame.  The Wall of Fame in the new home In High Point will be given in honor of the Rooms to Go team, the nation’s fifth largest retailer based in Seffner, Fla.

“Supporting the Hall of Fame is the right thing to do.  We’re just so connected in this industry.  It is our life,” says Jeffrey Seaman, CEO, Rooms to Go.  “Rooms to Go was started in 1991 and now has stores in ten states, but our furniture roots go back to my grandfather’s store in Brooklyn.  My father and uncle took over his business in 1954 and grew it into the largest furniture retailers in the northeast.  Many Seaman executives joined Jeff and Mort in 1991 to help launch Rooms to Go. We now have more than 9,000 associates and I’m proud to say that my son has joined the team.”

“These legacies should be captured and celebrated in the Hall of Fame in High Point,” he says. “We are happy to be a part of it and want to honor the people of Rooms to Go.  It is because of their effort and commitment that we are able to provide consumers with curated rooms that showcase how furniture can look in their homes.  It was a breakthrough idea for our industry at the time, and it is our people who have made it a success.”

The Wall of Fame will feature all of the inducted members of the Hall of Fame in an inspiring exhibit of The Innovation of our Leaders. As a center point of the legacy exhibits, visitors will step through the development of the industry from the perspective of the impact that can be made by a great leader.  The display will be interactive and include the contributions of each person.

“Jeffrey Seaman was contacted by Michael Amini, a capital campaign co-chair, and said he appreciated the opportunity to be a part of the project,” says Karen McNeill Pond, Hall of Fame CEO. “It is interesting how often our donors talk of their love for this industry and their family’s involvement across generations.  We look forward to not just capturing these stories, but sharing them with future leaders. ”
