Case goods and upholstery resource Schnadig International reported that it will debut Victoria, a 13-piece bedroom and dining room case collection, in the company’s recently expanded IHFC showroom C-500, during the fall market here.
Taking inspiration from the new collection’s namesake era, Schnadig’s Victoria features classic Victorian styling refreshed in a white paint finish with soft silver and gold accents.
“We’re emboldened by last year’s successful launch of Empire II” says Jeff Young, CEO, Schnadig International. “Among the many dark wood options out there, we’re eager to fill a marketplace void of light-finished furniture groups.”
Consumers want to reinterpret both familiar and found items, Young adds. “It’s like finding that item in the attic and applying a fresh coat of paint. Victoria is traditional but on trend at the same time.”
An antique Victorian drawer chest was the designer’s source for developing this season’s introduction.
For the bedroom, a traditional panel bed frame is available in three sizes, including California King. Correlating pieces include a 12-drawer dresser, six-drawer chest, and three-drawer nightstand. Also available are a 33-inch wide demilune, large mirror and open base nightstand.
In the dining category, two table styles may be complemented with matching arm and side chairs, as well as a 72-inch wide buffet and 56-inch wide framed mirror.
Both the bedroom and dining room pieces handsomely feature Birch solids and Ash muscle veneers in a creamy white paint finish with silvery gold tipping. Delicate carving motifs are used on nearly every piece, and more than one motif is used to convey an authentically eclectic Victorian look.
Complex curves and serpentines along the fronts and sides of the cases cast dramatic shadows, while posts and turnings are often reeded or carved to add visual interest. Hardware, also finished in silver and gold tones, is custom designed for this group and features delicate scrolls, flowers, acanthus, and beading detail.
Buyers are invited to contact their sales reps with inquiries or to set market appointments.
