CORT Announces Partnership With Move For Hunger

CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway Company and a provider of transition services, announced that it is partnering with Move For Hunger, a national non-profit organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to reduce food waste and fight hunger. To date, the non-profit’s network of relocation professionals has collected and delivered more than 10.5 million pounds of food – providing more than 8.5 million meals – to food banks and pantries across the United States and Canada.
People throw away a lot of “stuff” when they move, including perfectly good food. CORT will now provide residents at multi-family communities across the country with the opportunity to donate their unopened, non-perishable food items when they move out. The service is free to residents and turns every move into an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors in need, simply by sharing what they can spare on moving day.
“Through a pilot program in select markets over the past year, CORT has already rescued and delivered more than 10,500 lbs. of food,” explains Adam Lowy, Executive Director and Founder of Move For Hunger. “Our partnership with CORT will allow us to expand this program nationwide and help provide thousands of meals to people who are struggling with food insecurity.”

One in 8 Americans are food insecure, including more than 13 million children. Through the support of partners like CORT, Move For Hunger can continue to help the 42 million Americans who are struggling to find their next meal.
