A.R.T. Furniture Announces New Prossimo Collection

A.R.T. Furniture recently announced their newest collection, Prossimo, a 50-piece addition to the perennially popular “dark contemporary with nickel hardware” category.
Prossimo—Italian for “next”—contrasts the smooth, dark grain of quartered walnut veneer with the dramatic bird’s eye grain of pale South American lacewood, detailed with silver leaf and custom hardware in both bright and soft nickel finishes. The collection’s clean silhouettes are accented with sculptural details inspired by everything from driftwood to nautilus shells.
“A.R.T. Furniture’s state-of-the-art factories have exceptional materials, machining, and finishing capabilities,” said Jeff Cook, CEO. “With Prossimo we get to use them all. The blending of walnut and lacewood, for instance, requires running the two-tone cases down the finishing line multiple times, with a final rub with wool wax. It’s worth it.”
The whole-home Prossimo collection includes bedroom, dining room, living room and office pieces plus accents such as a counter-height kitchen island and a sleek curio cabinet with mirrored back and silver leafed doors. Among the collection’s signature pieces are an eight-drawer chest with an asymmetrical front of both walnut and lacewood set in a frame finished in silver leaf, and a Deco-inspired serpentine sofa in soft neutral fabric, accented with walnut and hand-applied nailhead trim.
“Consumers still want dark nickel-accented contemporary, but they don’t want predictable contemporary that somebody else could do on the cheap,” said Cook. “With Prossimo we truly are providing the next chapter in contemporary—exciting, fresh, and totally livable”
