CORT announced that it has promoted Paula Newell to vice president of strategic business development. In this role, Newell will lead growth at CORT through business development and developing innovative solutions for CORT’s business to business audiences.

CORT is a Berkshire Hathaway company and has served millions of individuals and more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 companies with furniture rental and business services over the past 40 years. CORT also offers a wide range of destination services for people and companies in transition, including rental housing locating and neighborhood touring.

Newell has served in a number of positions within CORT over the past 14 years. Most recently, Newell was a regional vice president of sales on the west coast, responsible for expanding CORT’s partnerships with national property management companies. Newell also played a critical role in developing partnerships with real estate associations for CORT’s home staging program.

Partnerships have been the foundation of CORT’s business over the past four decades. Apartment communities turn to CORT to provide residents furnished housing while avoiding the hassles and operational costs of storage, maintenance, repair and replacement. Staging homes with rental furniture drastically reduces the time a property is on the market, limiting the need for price reductions to generate interest from buyers.

Newell’s experience with CORT and knowledge of the furniture rental industry make this position a natural next step for her.

“I am excited to join CORT’s business development team and to have the opportunity to contribute and develop new value solutions for our business to business customers,” said Newell.

About CORT: For more than 40 years, CORT has been the nation’s leading provider of rental furniture with a global network of affiliates in more than 65 countries. CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway company, serves more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 companies and provides the nation’s most comprehensive range of destination services including area orientation and home finding tours, online apartment search services at www.ApartmentSearch.com, and settling-in services tailored to ensure relocating employees can focus on their work quickly.
