Luxury motion upholstery specialist Bradington-Young report that it will expand its offering of premium leather upholstery at the 2018 Spring High Point Market with new styles inspired by the company’s most successful items at retail as well as two key consumer trends: functionality in small spaces and the home furnishings consumers’ desire to express their uniqueness through their home décor. The collection of nearly 30 new motion pieces include sofas, recliners, club chairs, swivel chairs and ottomans will be available in the company’s broad leather offering.

Three new styles will debut in April. Inspired by the design of two of the company’s best-selling recliner styles, the Cherrie and the Revington motion sofas are city-scaled for apartment living to appeal to consumers who are opting for smaller living spaces, a key consumer trend that many of the company’s new silhouettes will address this Market. The third style, Raven is also inspired by a best-selling in-line style and will offer both a power headrest and footrest. Along with the new designs, the company is also adding new functionality to its luxury motion category including power lumbar and a Bluetooth app with memory button.

“Our research – and our sales numbers – have shown that high-end motion upholstery is still in high demand, said Craig Young, president of Bradington-Young. “From a consumer perspective, pairing luxury motion with our American-made quality story resonates very well with Baby Boomers, who are looking for a certain level of quality, and they have the personal wealth to obtain it . . . It’s really a win-win situation.”

In response to the growing trend of smaller living spaces that has created demand for smartly-scaled furniture, the company has developed several new small-scale pieces, including the ten new recliner styles, four of which are the smallest in the product line. Ranging from traditional to transitional styles, highlights include William and Mary, a traditionally-styled “his and her” duo with roll arms and nail head details. Mary, the smaller of the pair, was designed with petite women in mind and features lower seat and back heights and a shorter seat depth. The transitionally-styled Ani is also designed for small spaces and is available as either a wall-hugger or swivel glider version.

Additional small-scale options include four freshly styled tilt-back chairs offering the look of a stationary chair, with the benefit of reclining functionality. Offered in power, the small footprints sit big and offer flexibility in comfort and style. Highlights include the ultra-modern Jetson with sleek arms and a low-profile seat and the Abernathy featuring a button-tufted back and nail head trim.

Drawing from the home furnishings consumers’ desire to express their uniqueness through their home décor, the company is also focusing on expanding its club chair assortment. This Spring, Bradington-Young will introduce three new styles to support personalities ranging from Old World charm to bold and contemporary. New this Market are Kane, Boss and Jetson – which features the same edgy styling as its tilt-back companion.

Additional High Point introductions include two decorative ottomans designed for use with luxury motion styles, four stationary sofa groups and a new arm style for the company’s Sectional Seating by Design program, which puts consumers in the designer’s seat by choosing from a variety of options including arm style, leg style, welt and nail head trim varieties.

Bradington-Young will keep up with this season’s leather trends and will also build on the success of its performance fabric program, which the company saw great success with at the recent October 2017 Market. New leathers this season provide a fashion approach through on-trend colors including blush, ultra violet and the ever-popular shades of blue. New textures and materials include new hand-wiped styles and an ultra-luxe newbuck option – a first in the company’s leather offering – targeting boutique customers in hues of dove gray, camel and espresso.
