Hooker Furniture to Debut Antiquing-Inspired "Beaumont" collection at April High Point Market

Furniture World News Desk on 3/7/2018

Hooker furniture recently announced that their Beaumont collection will be debuting at April High Point Market. Beaumont, a 45-piece whole home collection, is a curated group of pieces inspired by American antiques and the concept of upcycling - the process of giving new life to vintage items with updates such as refinishing or repurposing them for new and unique uses.

With roots in traditional design, the collection offers an exquisite remix of old and new, combining the look of seasoned antiques and refurbished treasures with the conveniences of newly constructed furniture. Rustic accent finishes are combined with a mix of authentic weathered details including natural stone elements, metal accents inspired by antique galvanized watering cans and aged leathers inspired by antique pommel horses.

"Buying vintage high-end furniture has become more mainstream with consumers in recent years. As well-curated consignment shops and trendy online stores continue to gain traction, it has become clear that the term 'secondhand' has taken a stylish turn," said Pat Watson vice president of merchandising at Hooker Furniture. "In response to this, we've carefully curated our new Beaumont collection to provide our dealers with a unique opportunity to attract style-leading consumers who seek a level of authenticity in their home furnishings through pieces that carry a story and a history that simply can't be faked."

Fashioned with a combination of elm and oak veneers, the collection is anchored in Shale, a soft grey with natural wood undertones. Shale is complemented by a mix of six rustic accent finishes, including: a light oak Sheaf finish, Root Beer, a dark-tone on elm, French Press, reminiscent of freshly ground coffee with hints of brown and black, an antique white Cumulus finish, Skylark blue with natural wood undertones and Strata, a layered and ultra-weathered multicolor finish that gives the look of an authentic antique that has been painted and repainted through the years combining shades of Shale, Skylark and Sheaf.

Two bed styles are available among the 12 bedroom pieces, including a signature upholstered panel bed with an elegantly shaped headboard. The headboard and footboard are upholstered in an updated Calypso grey linen with exposed upholstery tacks, which give the traditional silhouette the trendy, upcycled look of a vintage bed that's been re-covered with a hip new fabric. The wood panel is characterized by multiple four-sided panels with dimensional X-motifs on the headboard and footboard. Additional bedroom pieces include a two-drawer nightstand, an open bedside table, a bombe bachelor chest, an impressive wardrobe framed in antique "ingot" metal that brings vertical drama into bedrooms with high ceilings, a ladies dressing chest with shoe storage, a traditional five-drawer chest, a nine-drawer dresser with a classic shaped front, an upholstered bed bench and two accent mirrors.

Three dining table styles anchor the 10 dining room pieces, including an adjustable rectangular trestle table that extends horizontally from 84- to 106-inches with one leaf. The unique table also adjusts vertically from a standard 30-inch dining height to a 36-inch counter height to truly elevate the dining experience. A round dining table with an architectural salvaged balustrade base is available in both 48-inch "breakfast" and 60-inch "family" diameter tops in a choice of wood or natural marble which is sandblasted and lightly waxed to highlight its organic character. A more casual 32-inch by 60-inch (with two 12-inch leaves) Friendship table, based on the communal Tavern tables of the American 17th Century is also available. It also adjusts from a standard 30-inch height to a 36-inch height. Three dining chair styles are available, as well as a dining bench, each of which pair well together, for an eclectic, "assemblage" look. Storage and serving pieces include a shapely four-door buffet, a display cabinet with doors highlighted in a Pecos galvanized watering can finish, a nine-drawer console with open lower shelves and a bar with thoughtful interior storage including pull-out trays featuring granite cutting surfaces.

An eclectic mix of 10 occasional, home office and home entertainment pieces give the group the look of a well curated assortment of antiques collected over time. Highlights include a writing desk inspired by salvaged architectural balustrades, an accent chest with antiqued mirror drawer fronts, a four-door entertainment console with dimensional X-motif panels on the door fronts, a bathroom vanity, a pair of square and rectangular end and cocktail tables, a martini table with a natural stone top, and a shapely cocktail and end table paring constructed with galvanized metal in a weathered Pecos finish.
