Ashley Furniture to Donate More Than $1 Million of Mattresses to Victims of Hurricane Maria

The Category 4 hurricane hit the island on September 20th, and was the strongest storm to make landfall in Puerto Rico in 85 years.

Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. recently announced that they will donate more than 4,700 mattresses to victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. This $1 Million donation announcement comes in partnership with Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Puerto Rico, owned and operated by family company Empresas Berríos. The Category 4 hurricane hit the island on September 20th, and was the strongest storm to make landfall in Puerto Rico in 85 years.

Mueblerías Berríos and its personnel will deliver the donated mattresses to the families affected by Hurricane Maria across the island. Beatriz Isabel Rosselló, First Lady of Puerto Rico, is working with the Vivienda and Familia departments of the Puerto Rican Government to organize the deliveries and the recipients of the donation. The U.S. Army National Guard will lead the caravan of Ashley Furniture HomeStore-Berríos trucks across the island, through more than 70 cities, to make the deliveries. The deliveries are scheduled to begin January 17th.

In September of last year, Ashley Furniture made furniture donations with a retail value of over
$2 Million to relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida.
