American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation Calls For Nominations

Furniture World News Desk on 12/18/2017

Nominations for the 2018 class for induction into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame, the industry’s most prestigious award, are now open. All members of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation are eligible to nominate and to second a nomination.

“If you know someone that you think is worthy of induction, this is your opportunity to nominate them for consideration by the Selection Committee. As a member of the Foundation, this is your privilege,” says Bob Maricich president of the Foundation. “The Nomination Form on our website will walk you through the process. We are looking across the industry for those individuals who demonstrate continuing excellence and who have made contributions that have changed the industry, whatever their role may be – retail, case goods, upholstery, casual and outdoor, bedding, home accents, lighting, wall art, accessories, rugs, soft goods, product designers, sales representatives, and suppliers. Let us know who you think we should consider.”

During an intensive five-month selection process, the Hall of Fame Selection Committee carefully considers an extensive list of individuals to determine who most exemplifies enduring excellence, superior accomplishments, innovation and creativity, and philanthropic generosity of their time, talents and resources. The final selection is determined by a points-based system, with ballots cast individually and online by each of the seven selection committee members. The ballots are received and verified by the Foundation’s accounting firm, Sharrard McGee.

To qualify for consideration, the individual must conduct business in the United States, have served in the industry for at least 15 years, have created a legacy as a positive influence and champion of the industry, and should have achieved the pinnacle of their careers and are a least 60 years old. For posthumous nominations, the individual must have been deceased for at least 12 months prior to the date of the nomination.

Members may submit nominations by Feb. 1. Nomination forms and lists of current members, previous nominees and inductees are available on the Foundation website at  www.homefurnishingshalloffame.com. Members may also obtain printed copies of the documents by calling 336.882.5900.

To submit a nomination, a re-nomination or a posthumous nomination, Foundation members are required to complete the Nomination Form found on the website at www.homefurnishingshalloffame.com. A print or a 300 dpi digital photo of the candidate must be enclosed. All nominations must be seconded, in writing, by another Foundation member.

The completed nomination package must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1, 2017, and sent to American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., 202 Neal Place, Suite 101, High Point, NC 27262.

New inductees will be honored at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Induction Celebration on Oct. 14 during the Fall High Point Market.
