TrendWatch Vignettes Showcase Three Cs for Fall High Point Market

Furniture World News Desk on 9/24/2017

TrendWatch, International Market Center’s popular trends forecast program, returns to High Point Market for fall, offering market attendees forward-thinking insight on consumer influences in the home furnishings industry.

Julie Smith Vincenti of Nine Muses Media, a home furnishings forecaster, editor and the curator of the TrendWatch program, will host an opening day seminar on Saturday, Oct. 14, to overview her trends. In addition to the seminar, TrendWatch vignettes will be on display throughout market in three locations.

“TrendWatch highlights the incredible diversity of product at High Point Market and provides our attendees with insight on design directions that can influence consumer behavior,” said Karen Olson, Senior Vice President of Marketing for IMC. “We received more than 2,000 photos for the fall TrendWatch program representing the latest introductions in furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories and offering a comprehensive ‘snapshot’ of home furnishings designs.”

For the Trendwatch Fall 2017 program, 2,300 product photos were submitted from 117 exhibitors. The final displays include 94 featured products from 85 unique exhibitors. The fall TrendWatch design directions include Code, Complements and Curation, described by Vincenti as the following:

CODE
From pictographs to computer code, language has connected humankind. Code presents a studied approach to modern-day connectivity and the comforts of home. The emphasis is tactile and original — historical references ground a space, while modern influences offer a future-focused tailwind.

COMPLEMENTS
TrendWatch’s Fall 2017 color story emphasizes complementary colors and near complements, especially blue-and-orange pairings and green-and-violet combinations. The mood is energetic, street smart, edgy and a bit youthful.

CURATION
Emboldened and steadfast homeowners create memorable interiors with a more-is-more approach to pattern, texture and form. Equally important — the less-is-more mastery of a seasoned curator. Meet maximalist decorating — the ultimate statement of personal expression.

Market attendees can see three TrendWatch displays at IMC properties: Suites at Market Square Lobby, IHFC Green Lobby, and the walkway between IHFC and Showplace near the Transportation Terminal. The TrendWatch seminar is Saturday, Oct. 14, 3:30 – 4:30, Suites at Market Square, Seminar Room (SAMS T-1014) and offers CEU credit.
