ManWah recently announced that it is expanding its footprint with an investment of 1 Billion RMB ($150 million USD) to purchase land, office buildings and a new, state-of-the- art manufacturing facility in Chongqing.

This new complex, which will serve as ManWah’s Southwest headquarters, brings the company’s total plant count to five, with a combined footprint of 16,038,226 square feet of manufacturing space.

According to the company, the massive manufacturing facilities break out as follows: Plant 1 has 5,166,677 square feet, Plant 2 has 1,291,669 square feet, Plant 3 has 3,013895 square feet, and Plant 4 has 3,767,368 square feet and Plant 5, being constructed now, adding 2,798,617 square feet of manufacturing capability when completed early in 2020.

The company also confirmed that while most recent investment for the new plant does not include funding for machinery, the capital is necessary to allow ManWah to keep pace with the steadily increasing demand for its upholstered goods.

Underscoring just how dominant the company’s footprint is in upholstery, ManWah currently produces some 1,686,000 sets of sofas each year.

Commenting on the most recent investment, Mr. Wong, Chairman of ManWah Holdings, said, “Since our inception, we have always been committed to being a world-class producer that has continuous improvement as a cornerstone of our company. With that as our mandate and vision, we have a proud history of investing in order to bring our customers best-of-class- products that help them and us maintain a competitive advantage in every market that we compete in.”

Guy Ray, CEO of ManWah USA, added, “This ongoing investment not only supports our continued growth and expansion into new categories, it also underscores our commitment to helping our retail partners to continually succeed in their respective markets.”

Earlier this month, ManWah made news again when it acquired a 50% share of European upholstery manufacturer Home Group and its brand Fleming, a family of smaller-scaled, Danish-designed furniture.
Moving forward, ManWah intends to manufacture Fleming’s contemporary designs in its factories in China then launch the brand in the U.S. in October at the upcoming High Point Market.

Earlier this year, ManWah celebrated another milestone—its 25th anniversary. In the past 25 years, ManWah Holdings has developed into a global home furnishing company with over 11,000 employees internationally and over 1966 retail franchisees in Asia.

The company said that its ongoing acquisitions and investments in production plants, people and processes all underscore its mission of bringing healthy, comfortable and world-class furniture to the global market.
