The furniture Fellowship Board recently announced that a Sunday morning, industry-wide worship service open to all attendees and exhibitors of the Fall High Point Market will be held on Sunday, October 23 at 7 a.m. in the Universal Learning Center located just inside the main entrance of the Universal Furniture Showroom at 101 S. Hamilton Street in High Point.

The worship service is sponsored by the Furniture Fellowship Board, which plans and hosts the annual Furniture Fellowship Prayer Breakfast. Bringing the message for the worship service will be Eric Mawyer, director of training for Guardian Protection Products who serves as a deacon in his home church and leader in men’s ministry. Prior to joining Guardian, Eric was with Heilig Meyers Furniture for 25 years. He and his wife live in Richmond and have 3 young adult children. His message, inspired from a passage in the book of Colossians and from personal perspectives, will examine the question, “Does God really have specific purposes for my life, or do I determine those purposes myself?

Leading in worship music for the service will be Joseph “Jodie” Davis, Furniture Designer ASFD. Jodie, a guitarist who has been active in his church choir since the age of 12, has performed solos, duos and trios at festivals and churches in the Lynchburg, Va. area and has been involved in musical fundraisers for the City of Hope in recent years. For the special music, he will present a medley of gospel songs from the Cokesbury hymnal including “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,” “Do Lord,” “Power in the Blood” and “Sweet By and By.”

The High Point Market worship service was “re-launched” last market by the Furniture Fellowship Board, after several years of hiatus. “What began in the 1990s as a small praise and worship service grew into a larger Sunday morning worship service, plus the April Market Furniture Fellowship Prayer Breakfast, now a time-honored, annual tradition,” said Karen McNeill, chairman of the Furniture Fellowship Board. “The Sunday morning service was discontinued when market dates shifted, but after they changed back to a Saturday opening, many people asked us to hold this service again.”

The Furniture Fellowship also announces that the keynote speaker for the 2017 furniture industry prayer breakfast, scheduled for Friday, April 21, 2017, is Charles Billingsley, one of Christian music’s most captivating inspirational voices and a worship leader, father and teacher. Billingsley has headlined more than 3,000 concerts and released 24 recordings as a solo artist and is a worship leader who oversees the music ministry at Lynchburg, Virginia’s 24,000-member Thomas Road Baptist Church.

More about the Fellowship Prayer Breakfast: The Furniture More Fellowship prayer breakfast has been held since 1994 at the opening of the spring international High Point Market. Sponsored by the Furniture Fellowship board, the breakfast is modeled after the National Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. and is intended to provide an atmosphere for fellowship, worship and prayer and an opportunity to pause collectively as an industry at the beginning of the High Point Market to thank and honor God.
