When it comes to enticing shoppers, you want to bring in women shoppers who drive buying decisions without discouraging men shoppers, who often manage the budget. Here are some design tips for appealing to the sensibilities of both:

  1. Combine pieces with straight lines with pieces with curves like a clean-lined sofa with French chairs.

  2. Incorporate a variety of materials. Leather pieces often appeal to men, while velvets will appeal to women shoppers.

  3. Stick with geometric patterns, stripes, and textures. Most men and women today steer away from overly floral motifs.

  4. Opt for deep plums instead of pinks when you want a bold color that feels more feminine.

  5. Select artwork that is abstract or incorporates landscapes. You can also try photography. This will appeal to largest audience today.
